I love the whole concept of nice-cream. It’s healthy, it requires no ice-cream-maker and it feels and satisfies just like conventional ice-cream without the cruelty. All you need here is a food processor and a few Vivapura staples and you are good to go.
I was surprised how much this tasted like mint chocolate chip ice-cream once I added some raw cacao paste for garnish, also!
If you are tired of using spirulina in smoothies alone, this is perfect for you. Spirulina is a nutritional powerhouse, but it definitely tastes like what it is– blue green algae. A great way to mask the taste (and enjoy the color!) is to mix it with something strong and sweet, like pineapple, or in this case, banana.
So here’s what you’ll need and what to do
- 3 frozen bananas
- few scant drops of peppermint oil
- 1tspn spirulina
- 1 tspn coconut sugar (optional)
Everyone garnishes their nice-cream differently, but today I was sort of feeling
- Green Hemp Seeds
- Chia Seeds
- Cacao Paste
- Fresh Berries
- A candied orange slice
But raw nuts, seeds, granola, jarrah bee pollen, and coconut flakes also make super tasty crunchy additions.
So here’s all you do:
Break your frozen bananas into chunks, and add it along with all other ingredients to your processor, and blend. That’s pretty much it. You’ll want to scrape down the sides every now and again, and you can also add water to help the process along.
Once it’s nice and smooth and reminds you of ice-cream, you’re done. Put that sweet, healthy, frozen treat in a bowl and garnish with lovely delicious superfoods and be sure to enjoy!
Sending you love and light,
-Mattea
